June 2008 Letters
Interdependence Day is everyday;
we see it as we look every way.
Take heart in the families that love one another;
Parents and children that truly love each other.
How many blessings bestowed upon us by neighbors and friends,
Those who are there for us and
Upon whom we depend.

Share empathy with those who go it alone,
For those who have neither visible nor Invisible means of support,
Whose days are desolate and thoughts unknown.
Survival is difficult without Creation’s exchange,
so the Loner is going; our world’s in change.

In this time and age, we’ve a model of sharing,
A trust in others; a reward that comes through caring.
Regardless of where we live or what we do
We rely on others to help see us through.

We rely for our food on God’s Good earth,
And everyone attests to its worth,
But the earth needs care, water, and intelligent use;
It needs our strong declarations in spreading the truth.

There are teachers and farmers and the utility’s crew,
Firemen, police, doctors, and nurses too.
We count on the bakers, butchers, and sawers of wood,
Often we bring in the entire neighborhood.

When we count on so many, as we all do on you,
that’s Interdependence Day by six billion point two.
We can be happy that we’re needed and be proud of our part,
It means we’re all sharing in mind and in heart.

May we all be blessed this Interdependence Day, 2008,
This month, this year, and our whole lives through,
Interdependence Day everyday with all Creation is great!

With love,
Glenn Mosley
Interdependence Day, 2008
from our Minister
CHRISTMAS IN JULY?

“Wow”, it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Or, is it just all of the excitement I see stirring at
Unity Christ Church!  All this hustle and bustle makes me feel like a “miracle” is about to occur.

It is indeed a pleasure to serve as the President of the Board of Trustees of our church.  And it is indeed
a time of spiritual growth and wonder for us all.  Having been a member of Unity Christ Church for
many years, I have observed us grow and change and go through many challenges “to grow” and
“expand” in our awareness of the “Presence of God”.

For awhile we as a community have been in a state of healing and transformation. Initially I only felt
this, but now, as I observe the new levels of energy and enthusiasm emerge, ”I know” that “we are now”
and “have been” in a process of deep healing, growth, change and rebirth.  As I look into the eyes of my
fellow congregants and see the “Christ Light” shining back at me, I am truly filled with a joy that allows
me to know it has always been the presence and power of God working in us and through us to bring us
to new levels of awareness and growth.

So, for all these challenges “to grow” and “to transform” the consciousness of our Spiritual Community
that we have been through and will continue to “grow” through, I am truly thankful and grateful, for I
“now” see the fruits of this growth manifesting in our Church Community.

I am overcome with love and compassion as I experience the “Joy” that I see flowing from you all.  The
laughter, the talking and loving smiles that I see on Sunday mornings fill me with awe and makes me
truly glad that I know you all and that you are a part of my life and consciousness. And I thank you for
your presence at Unity Christ Church.

I am also really excited about our new Congregational Planning Team.  This team is made up of a
number of our church members and our Ministers, Glenn and Martha.  They are in the process of
developing plans to move our church in the positive, prosperous direction that we all want it to go.  I
have heard from a number of sources that participation on this team is quite “phenomenal”!

I also am impressed with that Prosperity Action Team.  Talk about a lot of energy and enthusiasm.
Pam Anderson is the leader of that team and she “fairly sizzles with zeal and enthusiasm”.  That team
is excited and I am excited that this level of energy is emerging in our Spiritual Community.

As you know we are having a Trivia Night and a 50/50 drawing this month.  It sounds like a lot of fun
and excitement.  Everyone I tell about these events gets more excited than me (and that is hard to do).
I also ask that you as members of our congregation come and share our new found sense of energy,
enthusiasm and joy as we share in a time of fun fellowship and laughter in our newly evolved level of
“Joy”.

Blessings As We Spiritually Evolve,

Juankee J. McKinney, President
Board of Trustees

P.S.:  Isn’t It Wonderful to have Christmas in July! ( and someone will truly have Christmas in July
when they win $10,000.00 in our 50/50 drawing).
A message from the Board of Trustees
A Thought & A Prayer:  A Matter of Giving and Receiving
from our Minister
As most of you know, the Board, Ministers, and attendees of Unity Christ Church are exploring the
topic of prosperity on a daily basis.  As we do so, I have become acutely aware of the way I think about
material goods.   I invite you to join me in exploring the notion of giving and receiving.

An essential component of prosperity is keeping the channels open.  In other words, stagnation is death;
circulation is life.  If we are to be prosperous, we must not allow stagnation in ourselves, in our lives, or
in those material things that surround us.

What do we mean by circulation?  We mean that what we have we use to the utmost, and what we are
not using must go to bless others.  Charles Fillmore said it this way,

"Money is being hoarded and is lying idle in banks all over the land that ought to be used to
educate and spiritually enlighten the human family.  If you have a surplus over and above your
needs, you are not fulfilling the righteous law by letting it lay idle.  Set it into circulation by giving
it to some good cause – lending it to the Lord – and it will return to you again in due season
multiplied.  No one ever regretted money that was given to help the good.  Yet, had that same
money been lost in speculation, it would have been mourned.  If you want your money to bring you
lasting happiness and real satisfaction, give it to the Lord." (Unity Magazine, June, 1905).

While Fillmore spoke directly about money, the same may be said for material goods, also known as
“stuff.”  The comedian, George Carlin, has a routine about “stuff.”  In part it goes this way:

"That's what your house is, a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get...more stuff!
Sometimes you gotta move, gotta get a bigger house.  Why?  No room for your stuff anymore!"  (http:
    //www.writers-free-reference.com/funny/story085.htm)

While Carlin freely uses language that makes some of us blush, he does have a good laugh at the
expense of the idiosyncrasies of humankind.  And this segment of his routine is a graphic description in
terms of material goods that Fillmore used for money.  “If you have a surplus over and above your
needs, you are not fulfilling the righteous law by letting it lay idle.”

Circulation is the antidote for “idle surplus.”  Those things that are not in use will serve another, if we
will release them.  Put them into circulation by giving them to a good cause.  Sell them and use the
proceeds for a good cause.  Place them where they will bless the receiver, and the gift will be returned to
us multiplied.  Then, instead of having too much stuff, we will have space and enjoyment knowing that
you have contributed to the prosperity of another.
