Easter As It Really Is

Dear Friends,

Echoing down through the corridors of centuries are the words, “I am the resurrection and
the life.” And they continue to tug gently at our heart strings, pulling us forward, Godward,
because the one who uttered them proved them.  From that first Easter morning, when
Mary Magdalene came to His tomb and found it empty, humankind has not only had the
hope or the promise of eternal life, but its reality!

It is for this reason that I wish to share with you, with all of my heart and deep feeling in
prayer, an idea, an affirmation, a kernel of spiritual Truth, that will enfold each of us and
clothe us with the actual acceptance experience of this Easter as it really is. Simply stated,
and shared in a feeling of love for you, it is “The Love of God is Happening to and Within
You Right Now!”  To make it more personal declare it for yourself in first person:  “The Love
of God is Happening to and Within Me Right Now!”

As Easter morning dawns and the fingertips of the dawn roll back the curtains of
humankind’s long night in limitation, may you feel resurrection and new life stirring in you.
And you know, “The Love of God is Happening to and Within Me Right Now!”  And of course
it doesn’t stop there. The love of God radiates beautiful, new harmony and compassion
through your heart to all people.  The mind of God thinks through your mind and intelligent,
right action prompts all you do for others. The newness of life literally fills and thrills you, for
you are aware that doubt and fear never had any basis and now you are free in the
freedom of the indwelling Christ Spirit.  You are forever alive in perfect love and goodness
because today, and potentially, every day, Easter as it really is, is happening to you also.

Easter is the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection and as I meditate, I see Easter as your
personal resurrection into new happiness, new freedom, renewed life!  The love of God is
happening to and within you now.  You are risen with the Christ!

In order that we might feel these Truths to both the tips and the innermost core of our
beings, and find it making our lives radiant with God’s good, Unity Christ Church has
prepared several special services throughout the month of March, and several special
Easter services as well as regular classes from between Palm Sunday March 16 through
Easter Sunday March 23. Please check specifics elsewhere in this issue of Reflections.

Lovingly,
Glenn Mosley
Thanks for Your Spirit of Service

The Board of Trustees would like to take this time to “Welcome” and “Appreciate” our new Board members.  They are
Pam Anderson and Judi Coleman.  Both Pam and Judi are long time members of our Spiritual Community and bring a
wealth of gifts, talents and experience to our Board of Trustees. We are truly thankful, grateful and truly blessed for their
willingness to serve.

On a more personal note I find Pam to be “pretty perky” and she always has wonderful ideas to share.  Judi exudes these
same fine qualities and she is very “fashionable” too.  So I again thank these wonderful “beings of light” for their
willingness to radiate their energy, enthusiasm and commitment here at Unity Christ Church.

As members of Unity Christ Church we know that you too have gifts and talents that are just waiting to burst forth in a
“Spirit of Service”.   I am sure you have often asked yourself, “What can I do to be of service in my spiritual community?”
Well, since you have been asking this question, I have a few ideas to share with you.  You could volunteer to teach
Sunday school.  Serving on the hospitality team might be nice too. Or perhaps you would like to be an Usher. How about
being a platform assistant—this activity would get you plenty of exposure. If you are enthusiastic about participating in
prayer, you could join the prayer ministry or the meditation team.  However, if none of these activities appeal to you, just
being present here with us on Sunday mornings will do. So, you see, you have a wide variety of choices from which to
choose.

On a more serious note if you are truly feeling passionate about serving our Spiritual Community, go into prayer,
meditate and ask Spirit to guide you to serve in a way that best suits you. Whatever you are led to do, please know that
your service and your willingness to serve is truly a “gift from God” and a blessing to us all.

In closing, the Board of Trustees would like you all to know that you are valued and appreciated for being a part of the
consciousness of Unity Christ Church and for just being “You”.

Blessings,

Juankee J. McKinney
President, Board of Trustees
A THOUGHT AND A PRAYER:
Resurrection and Life

The richness of the spiritual cycles comes full circle in March.  The Lenten season allows a time each year for
introspection, spiritual contemplation, and resting in the consciousness of eternal life and strength.  Then, we are
“resurrected anew into the life, light, and power of God” (Keep A True Lent, 197).

For us in Unity, Easter is not a celebration of the death, burial, and resurrection of the man Jesus, but a grand
opportunity to step forth into new life, new hope, a new birth in heart, mind, and consciousness in the Christ Mind!  So
how do we put this into action?  Perhaps the following will serve as an example to inspire us.

Austin learned of Africa's fifteen million AIDS orphans and determined to help on a larger scale, and realized his love of
basketball could help. He asked people to sponsor him with donations as he shot free throws. That first year, at the age
of 10, Austin shot 2,057 free throws, each shot representing a child, to benefit the 2,057 children that would be orphaned
by AIDS during his school day. Austin raised $3,000 that day.  Realizing that more kids could make an even bigger
difference, he recruited 1,000 kids to each shoot 1,000 free throws, and Hoops of Hope was born. Every December 1,
World AIDS day, thousands of kids across the U.S., Europe, and Australia shoot free throws. They have raised money to
fund a school and an AIDS testing lab in Zambia, a country hit hard by the AIDS crisis. Austin says it best, “You don't
have to wait to be an adult to make a difference. Just pick your passion and do something!”  (This story courtesy of www.

Helping our fellow humankind, stepping forth into new adventures that serve the planet, working for the common good
of the community, or for Unity Christ Church, resurrection is about stepping out of the grave of self absorption and into
the light of action.  We “go to the well” for inspiration, for learning, for growing our consciousness of our Oneness.  Then
we use that growth to make our world a better place.  As Austin said, “pick your passion and do something!”
In loving service,
Martha
